This site-specific alla prima work, is intended to explore some of the history and psychic energy of the location. The forms resemble a cruciform pattern. A visitor would be able to enter the space, created by the sculptural elements. The cruciform could be a reference to the christian symbol of death and rebirth. The site is close to my studio. A house-fire here, resulted in the death of a woman who lived there. There is some other history attached to this event. An understanding of the personal tragedy that took place here, played a role in the evolution of these forms. The basic elements are strainer bars that were intended to be used for a painting. They are hinged with rope, creating a structure similar to that of a doorframe. These elements can be arranged in different ways to evoke a variety of associations, depending on orientation, proximity and context.
