This work was part of an exhibition called "Crayfish: Forty Artists from Seven States". The exhibition was intended as a vehicle for raising awareness of the naturally occurring ecosystem. This interactive sculpture draws attention to the debris that is often dumped into a regionally well-known creek from my hometown, the Codorus. As a viewer/participant turns a handle located on the side of the work, a tire then rotates on top of the sculpture. It wobbles in such a way as to suggest that it might fall, echoing the fragility of the natural world.
