I do what the graphite tells me. I make this statement to myself when drawing. But many times, I'm trying to get out what I see in my mind's eye. Manifesting what one sees in their imagination tends to be somewhat egoist, in my opinion, so I want to remove much of the ego elements as much as possible. But you can't entirely remove yourself from being attached to the earth. Otherwise, you become so "head in the clouds" that you are not capable of surviving or relating. Joseph Campbell (Jung too, I think) would refer to this as transcending the juvenile world of opposites, maintaining a balance in the middle, and becoming a complete person. That's an ongoing challenge. So, while this became an image of rocks, it started as doing what the dust was telling me to do. It began with turning the brain off and then seeing a connection to the earth.
