Art is a tuning fork for the human spirit. Color, especially, is a primary mechanism for this. People have psychological and maybe physiological responses to color. For example, many people are happier when exposed to more sunlight, revealing all the hues in the world. I remember when I was a kid, I was given a set of colored pencils as a Christmas gift. I was transfixed by the relationship of all those colors in one place. Now, I'm obsessed with an ongoing practice of "stealing color" by photographing all the captivating relationships I see and using those harmonic relationships in paintings in different ways.
