I've been exploring the collision of 2 complementary qualities in painting for a long time. One is a metaphysical, psychological or emotional aspect, which involves abstraction, synesthesia and sometimes, the permeability and illusory nature of the physical world. The other aspect deals with an earthly obsession with sensory data, basically linking the eye to the digital camera.
I have never completely addressed the analytical aspect to my satisfaction. It's probably also safe to say that I'm a bit obsessed with math, geometry and grids. The use of the grid would reflect the grids found in my assemblage pieces. Even with color, I do things mathematically. But I leave the math aside when it comes to the mystical stuff. I guess that makes the whole experience a matter of metaphysics.
