This painting is almost completely invisible in normal lighting environments. It's only able to be seen by human viewers under ultraviolet light. It can be further explored with a smartphone by taking a digital photograph. The addictions referenced throughout this work refer to warfare, drug abuse and narcissism. The poppy is a symbol that refers to our addiction to drugs and violence, in that it has been used to commemorate the commitment of soldiers during World War I, while the opium poppy is harvested to fuel an epidemic of drug abuse. A veiled question posed here, is the extent to which these two are fueling each other. The third catalyst is narcissism, represented by the hand, emerging from the ground, holding the cell phone. The pinky ring bears the emblem of the presidential seal of the United States.
