Utilizing The Modern’s current style and identity, Benjamin rebranded the restaurant’s marketing materials.
The simplicity and elegance of the images convey the freshness and deliciousness of the displayed food. The fonts create extreme contrast with the open space which dominates the layout.
The judges agreed that Benjamin’s design choices covey the establishment’s modern look and attract the eye of the restaurant’s target audience. They identified the use of the character “M” as an intriguing design element and loved his use of rotation and placement.
Informational Multipage Booklet
This informational booklet is Brittney’s redesign of an existing publication. She experimented with typography and color, eventually perfecting the use and incorporation of decorative typography.
Brittney designed background textures utilizing vector brushes. Photographs of her hands, which are placed throughout the book, were retouched in Adobe® Photoshop® and her layout was completed in Adobe® InDesign®.
The judges made special note of Brittney’s choice of type saying it was illustrated and utilized very nicely. In addition, her pages are consistent and flow nicely.
Franchise Informational Brochure
Karen's piece is a redesign of a franchise booklet for Just Dogs! Gourmet. The tri-panel, saddle-stitched, 16-page brochure utilizes colors from the company’s logo as well as the stripe pattern used in many franchise stores.
Warm colors create a comforting, homey feeling to convey that the dog treats are organic and made from all-natural ingredients. Karen focused on effective placement of line textures, high-resolution images and information to create an aesthetically pleasing piece with strong visual path and flow. The logo was repeated throughout the booklet since the target audience is people interested in starting a Just Dogs! Gourmet franchise.
The judges commented on Karen’s unique tri-fold booklet concept, great pictures and textures utilized around and on top of elements.
The Daily Grind is about two skater punks that are getting married. As you will see two punks can cause a lot of trouble!
Daniel Bailey invented and designed his own new hit series. Once he chose his subject matter he and a crew of peers headed out to shoot. A few of Daniel’s responsibilities included creating a snappy selling point, recording footage, writing script, finding and creating audio, selecting actors and actresses to play different roles, and finally compiling these elements in programs such as Adobe® Premier® and Adobe After Effects®.
The judges agreed that Daniel did a great job with timing and combining all of the elements needed to produce a professional looking piece.
This short commercial for the Discovery Channel was created using Adobe After Effects® and Adobe® Premiere® as well as professional grade microphones and other audio hardware.
Peter was responsible for developing a concept to market a fabricated upcoming special on the Discovery Channel. Once he developed the concept, he wrote the script and secured the correct individual to deliver it. He then found imagery to build and animate. All of the animation special effects were created in Adobe After Effects®. The judges commented that Peter’s use of camera animation was smooth and effective and that the piece maintained the look and feel of the Discovery Channel’s branding.
This is an opening title sequence for a TV show entitled "Small World".
To create his project Tanner used a book he found interesting as the basis for his show, then fabricated an opening title sequence. He obtained all of his own video footage, recorded the audio and engineered his characters. Yes, he made the miniatures. The motion graphics and visual effects were achieved using Adobe After Effects®; the video was edited in Adobe® Premiere®.
The judges agreed that Tanner used an excellent color palette for his piece as well as superior sound to add energy to the edit and the footage utilized was well composed and inventive.
